meet the primal pet foods experts
Meet the leaders of our nutrition team. They’re on a mission to help more dogs and cats eat nutritious, balanced raw diets so they can live in their prime.
Lindsay Meyers
Vice President of Quality, Nutrition & Compliance
Lindsay Meyers leads Primal’s food safety and quality assurance teams. She’s also a pet parent who has seen the benefits of raw feeding firsthand. Nearly 15 years ago, a raw diet significantly improved her dog Max’s health while he battled several illnesses. She’s been feeding her dogs Primal raw foods ever since.
In her role as vice president of quality, nutrition, and compliance, Lindsay oversees the teams that create our complete and balanced raw recipes. She also travels the country to ensure our production facilities meet or exceed the high standards we’ve set for how we source and make our products. Her dog Monty is small enough to fly with her, and takes his role as quality control supervisor very seriously.
Prior to joining Primal, Lindsay worked in veterinary emergency, critical care, and general practice for dogs, cats, and small exotic animals for nearly 20 years. She also taught as an adjunct professor for veterinary technician students at the University of New Hampshire.
Lindsey earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of New Hampshire. She is a certified veterinary technician in New Hampshire, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certified, and a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for animal foods.
James Templeman, Ph.D.
Director of nutrition & formulation
James Templeman and his team ensure Primal recipes are nutritionally complete and balanced for the dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies for whom they’re made.
This means you can be confident your dog or cat is getting the very best, most biologically appropriate nutrition to live in their prime today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
Before he became part of the Primal team, James was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. While there, he researched how to best measure protein quality and how that knowledge can be applied to pet food.In addition to his postdoctoral fellowship, James holds a doctoral degree in companion animal nutrition, a master’s degree in animal nutrition, and a bachelor’s degree in animal biology from the University of Guelph.
James works from home, where his three cats keep him company between their long, lazy naps. While sleeping is their favorite pastime, they also enjoy putting on their collars and joining James and his wife for evening excursions in their backyard.
