Sourcing High Quality Ingredients

Ensuring the best food for your pet starts with sourcing the highest quality ingredients. That's why we're selective about the ingredients we use and where they come from. We source responsibly raised protein, certified organic produce and whole foods from a small group of partners committed to the highest standards of quality.

Safe Manufacturing Standards

Our manufacturing facilities are dedicated to strict quality control. We adhere to state and federal regulations for product safety and our facilities are regularly inspected by the USDA and California State Department of Agriculture.

We also follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and employ Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) programs.

Pathogen Mitigation: Frozen Raw Foods

Our frozen raw recipes utilize High Pressure Processing (HPP), an FDA and USDA approved cold water pressure process that targets Salmonella and other food borne pathogens without cooking. It does not use heat or irradiation, so raw foods stay raw.

Our proprietary low pressure, short hold time, and cold water temperature process allows for enzymes, vitamins, proteins, and lactic acid bacteria to stay intact.

Test & Hold

We use a third-party lab to test every lot of finished frozen and freeze-dried product to confirm it's negative for select pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella, E.coli O157:H7, and Listeria). When the test results are reviewed and confirmed negative, the product is released for shipment.

Return Policy

Primal Pet Foods is committed to offering high-quality food, treats, hydrators and toppers to help keep pets in their prime. If you or your pet are not completely satisfied with one of our products, you may return or replace the product at the store where you purchased the product within thirty (30) days of purchase. Take your receipt and the original package and/or any unused portion of the product to the retail location where you purchased the product.


Your retailer is authorized to give you the option of either a refund of the purchase price or replacement with a Primal product of equal or lesser value, provided that all returns are contingent upon compliance with your retailer’s specific return instructions and policies. Additionally, all returns are limited to the original purchaser and satisfaction returns are limited to one per customer. All returns (and any replacement products, if any) are also subject to Primal Pet Food’s Terms & Conditions.
